Travel to India

India Yoga Retreat

Dehradun airport is the closest airport to Rishikesh. From within India, catch a flight to Dehradun.

Delhi may be the easiest airport to fly to from outside India or coming from your home country.

Arrange for 2-3 hours between flights, as you will need to go through a security check, possibly collect baggage, and find your way to a different terminal for the Dehradun flight.

We will arrange for airport transfer from Dehradun to Rishikesh if we are aware of your travel itinerary. It is also possible to easily get a taxi from the pre-paid taxi stand next to the baggage claim for 500-1000 INR (Indian Rupee).

Dates to Know

  • The retreat begins on Sunday May 15. Check in after 1pm.
  • No events are planned for this day. Arrive, and check in.
  • It’s not a bad idea to arrive at least a day early, and acclimate a little to the time zone.

All levels of yoga practice are welcome. We won’t be practicing crazy advanced poses in our group classes. We will do some poses or a flow and have a physical practice – However, this trip is more about all the other aspects of yoga.

We’ll practice pranayama, meditation, we’ll chant and sing, listen to stories, we’ll enjoy a community of yogis, each other’s company, and we’ll experience the practice in a way that might be entirely new to you if you’ve never been to India.

We will follow all of the rules of our host country that are in place at the time of the retreat. However, it’s hard to know what those might be at this time.

This past May (2021), covid conditions improved considerably. We really believe that this is a trend that will continue in 2022. We’re better at preventing it, better at treating it, and better at living with it as a thing that exists in our world.

You absolutely should get travel insurance. This will protect your investment in the event that something happens that prevents you from going.

It doesn’t cost a lot, and it can save you a tremendous headache.

Please read this further information on travel insurance and why we highly recommend it.

We’ll be entirely honest with you…

India can be chaotic. We have experienced travelers and an Indian guiding this experience, so it should go as smooth as one can hope.

Yet, India is a place that cannot be micromanaged. Let us advise you – You must be accepting that there will be a few times where we must simply go with the flow of things unless we choose to become frustrated instead.

You will experience every human emotion while you are here: Joy, Amazement, Wonder, Sadness, Anger, Bewilderment, Happiness, Peace…

You will also witness astonishing poverty and incomprehensible differences in social class.

You will also be greeted with kindness, curiosity, gratitude, and tremendous hospitality.

When we tell you that you are about to experience a once in a lifetime tour, and have experiences that you will never forget, we are not saying these things for marketing purposes. We’re telling you these things because they’re true!
