Travel To Koh Phangan For Yoga

If you are coming to Koh Phangan from outside of Thailand, then the first step on the journey is to get to Bangkok. Once in Thailand, you have a number of options depending on your preference, time, and budget. More than likely, your trip will be comprised of more than one option below.

Koh Phangan By Plane

From Koh Samui

The most direct way to Koh Phangan is to fly to Koh Samui, which has frequent flights from Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket and Pattaya. Check Bangkok Air for flights. From there you can take a minibus to Maenam Beach pier and take a boat from there to Thong Sala on Koh Phangan.

The journey from Koh Samui Airport is just a minimum of 1 hour, and you can also buy a convenient minibus and boat joint ticket from around 300 Baht.

Other boat options are listed further down this page.

From Surat Thani

It is cheaper to fly from Bangkok to the government airport at Surat Thani, where a couple of budget airlines are now operating from. Check out Air Asia and Nok Air.

It takes about 5 hours to get to Koh Phangan from Surat Thani Airport and costs around 500 Baht. This includes bus transfer and boat ticket.

Koh Phangan By Boat

Koh Phangan By Train

An overnight train from Bangkok has a bed, and is a comfortable way to get Koh Phangan. Trains stop early morning at Surat Thani. Then, buy a bus and boat ticket to Koh Phangan. Train tickets from Surat Thani back to Bangkok should be reserved in advance especially in high season.

Check the latest prices and schedules via the service link on the website of The State Railway of Thailand.

Taxi

Once you make it to Koh Phangan, there will be taxis waiting for you at the pier. Tell a driver that you want to go to Ananda Yoga & Detox Center on Hin Kong Beach, and they’ll know where to take you. Fare will range from 150 Baht in low season to possibly 300 Baht in high season.

Required visa for Thailand

Most countries receive a one month visa exemption on arrival once you enter the kingdom by air. If you plan to stay longer, you can obtain a “Tourist Visa” at the Thai embassy in your home country.

It is wise to check into your visa situation through your home country’s embassy or consulate before departing, as each country may have different rules and regulations.
